On October 24, 2015 finance Minister Charles Sousa announced that as of January 1, 2016 all private insurers in Ontario must offer discounts to people who buy and install winter tires on their vehicles.
Winter tires "enhance safety and reduce the likelihood of collisions by improving traction, braking and handling in frost, snow, slush and under cold and icy conditions," the release stated.
We applaud Minister Charles Sousa for making this decision in the efforts to help lowering escalating car insurance cost and to help improve safety on the roads.
