We have been experiencing more clients forgetting to renew their driver’s licence for various reasons. This can have dire consequences, especially when it comes to your automobile insurance. If you do not have a valid driver’s licence you do not have car insurance.
The Ontario automobile policy only provides coverage for those drivers who are properly licenced. If a person’s driver’s licence has been suspended, lapsed or not renewed they would be considered as unlicenced and there would be no insurance coverage available
It’s understandable that you may miss your renewal date given that it only comes around every five years and you only get one renewal notice from the Ministry of Transportation. But, and this is a big but, it’s your responsibility for ensuring that your licence is valid at all times.
